Gaining bhp isn't really 'cheap' tbh.

Ideally I'd just hang off and try to save for some engine mods tbh. If you bought a vts engine carefully, could get all the bits, and it fitted for £500-£600 if the right one cam along. Could do it for less if you fitted it yourself, nothing too difficult about it
Umm i c where your getting at with the VTS engine and TBH its a good idea. however i only have mild engine knowledge. Most of it with me lies in exhausts and electrics in cars having fiddled round with my last car quite a bit lol.
TBH tho if i got a vts conversion isnt there the hastle of having to upgrade the insurance, brakes, gearbox, etc etc. I was just thinking of cams as i can get some heavy duty servicing done whilst it was being done. Etc as you said waterpump, timing belt HG, etc, etc. And if im not mistaken arnt newman ph1 cams not require a remapping of the ECU to gain there power? However i don't know if they're absolutley wank or what. whats the adverage BHP increase in a pair of P1's compared to p'3s as so far ive noted p3's are a extra £400 including the rolling road, remapping, vernier pulley etc
