It would also help to check and find the model number of the alarm as it may have a backup battery which then comes more of a problem, personally i'd say whip out the loom and replace it, would probably save time and get sorted quicker, all depends on how much your in a rush.

Agreed, I'd look to remove the aftermarket immobiliser - the car has one as standard which is perfectly fine.
I would have thought it should be fairly easy to see where the immobiliser is wired in - just cut/replace 1 wire at a time.
