why on earth are you even paying 4 grand. the most it should ever be is 2k TPFT!

personally, if you can't afford to insure your car monthly, you can't afford to drive. i paid my first years insurance (£1600 on a 50bhp fiesta!) out of the rest of the loan i had for the car. i worked full time!

put simply, yes insurance is stupidly high when you start, but its that high for a reason. so many young drivers crash (i've witnessed 3 people write cars off who had them less than a month) and the insurers have to make money somehow. if older drivers crash, their premiums go up too.

and its not hard to shop around. my mums only got about 3 years ncb, shes been driving for ages, and she pays £300ish a year. her previous insurers nearly doubled that for no reason, so she moved!
