You can turn the light off with the Diagnostics even if there's no faults.

The immobilizer problem is common, in MK2's mainly. Just turn the key off and on a few times. My MK2 does it all the time.

As for drinking fuel check your sensors, WD40 the connections, could be a bad connection causing a wrong reading.

My VTR is drinking fuel lately... Mainly on slow short journeys lol.
