Default Lowering question

My GTi was down 40mm all round, standard shocks on front (that's how I bought it) with apex shocks on rear, now the rear beam was shagged, rattling like a goodun and had camber on the OSR wheel, so bought a rear beam. The fella said was lowered 55mm, wanted to raise back to 40mm but one the anti roll bar torx screws are rounded so at midnight I really couldn't be arsed fannying about to sort it and just wacked it on the car.

if I'm honest the gap between the rear arch and front arch isn't too bad, but it's still sitting arse down which I don't like and probably will make the handling awful, I've been offered a set of spax springs and shocks on the struts for 70 quid which are a 60mm drop, will this be too low? Will it handle like complete shit compared to 40mm?

My old vtr was on the apex 50mm kit and handling was far superior than the GTi.. See enclosed photo for opinions, isn't too bad but reverse rake looks dreadful, also running lower strut brace, didn't have many problems at 50mm with it on the saxo!
