Sorry, are you saying I should actively investigate the payments I’m making, even after British Gas have confirmed them multiple times? I am the first out of my group of friends to purchase a house and so the topic of bills or energy prices has never come up with my friends. Prior to buying a house, I rented for three years with my girlfriend. During that time, she paid all the bills and we never discussed how much they were costing. After purchasing my house, I signed up to British Gas based on a recommendation from my mortgage advisor. I have no previous exposure to energy costs and have never looked at comparison websites.

So agree a payment plan with them, if they won't agree to something that you feel manageable or fair then make a complaint (assuming you've already done this and had an outcome you dislike) you need to speak to their exec complaints team and if they fail to help you need to take it to the omsbudsman.
They will usually try to resolve something before the omsbudsman comes in because it costs them money.

The complaint is ongoing (as said in post #25). In my opinion, £200 a month is not a reasonable repayment plan. I could buy my girlfriend a nice E93 BMW for less than that haha.

I know that now haha – and I will be doing in the future. There’s no way I’m staying with the incompetent, robbing people at British Gas, and I will be actively advising my friends, family and colleagues to avoid them too.
