Though, its in your interests for him to pay outright.
Years ago my dad went to buy an RS500, (yes that many years ago) it was a private seller who claimed it was his brothers who had died. My dad viewed it, drove it, liked it etc and agreed to buy it. The seller wanted a £500 deposit, so my dad paid it and he was never seen again. He had sold it from someone elses house who was on holiday, stolen mobile number etc etc.
Turns out he did it to a few people, the police caught him and he had to pay £5 a month until the £500 was paid off.
For ages my dad was getting a little check in the post every month. stupid really.
