I think your right steve about the illegality of being in possession of a tax disc for a car you no longer own unless he is selling the months back like garages do.

I would suggest if the for sale ad stated car will be taxed then you have a legally binding document and court could be done.

Could claim loss of earnings because you couldnt drive it to work to because of the lack of tax
