The storyline lacks compared to the previous Fallout's IMO. You're choices ingame don't really effect the outcome. In NV you could kill almost anyone, companions included, there's a lof of 'invincible' npc's in this one. The VATS is pretty redundant too, I used it loads in previous games and don't think I've used it once in the last 20-30 hours of playtime.
Saying that, I'm on my second playthrough and still enjoying it.
