Default Graham's icelandic Mk2 VTR (pic heavy0

so been here a while and made a few posts, and thought id best start a progeress thread.

I bought the car for £700, 83000 on the clock with loads of service history and previous mots to back it up.

the car itself is very clean. and had a few things done by the previous owner.

4-1 manifold , full janspeed exhaust , braided brake hoses , drilled n grooved discs all round. rear tinted windows and some chavvy stickers ( which ive now took off ), also came with a set of eibach lowering spring for the front, not sure on what drop they are but they are brand new never fitted.

this is how the car looked, the pics were took the night i got it

I really didnt like the look of the standard lights so picked myself a set of angel eyes up cheap which personally i think look much better.

i decided to give my engine bay a bit of a clean as it was grubby in places, it ws only a quick wipe over but it came up quite nice.

thats all ive done so far apart from give it a good clean and a service. heres a few pics from when i serviced it yesterday

so far thats all ive managed to do, i plan on doing some engine mods, i want to get some cams, with wayne aka chipwizzard being local ( literally round the corner from my mums) ill hoping to be getting it remapped at some point.

might aswell get the eibach springs put on that came with the car. but would need to figure out what drop it would give me so i could match the rear.

im abit stuck on what direction to take as im pritty new to saxo's so any input or recommendations would be more than welcome.

thanks for looking lads hope you enjoy!

Would be better leaving the cams, putting in a VTS lump then camming it.

Too much money and not enough gains from a VTR engine, just my opinion.

ive thought about the vts engine, but it seems thats what most people seem to do, i understand why but i like to be diffrent hence why id probablly cam the 8v engine. if i was going to do a vts conversion id just buy a vts as they have abs and more airbags as standard lol.

i understand that tuning an 8v engine is pricey for not much gains but what kind of gains would i be looking at, is a vts massivley diffrent in power?

this is my 1st car so kinda new on all this stuff, ive always been a bike person had loads of them lol.

As you say first car, how old are you? Thing with saxo's is that they come with an expensive insurance price tag for what they are, especially a vts.

little bit of an update.

i decided to tackle my grill and see what i could come up with, the outcome was this so far.

cut the fins out with the dremel and sprayed it all up in gloss black.

This is it on the car

and a comparison shot before and after.

before

after

thinking im going to mesh it also just for a bit of protection for my rad and fan if anything. not sure on black or a colour coded mesh?

also got some powerflex exhaust rubbers which i need to fit later on today.

slowly making little progress but ill get there in the end still undecided on what i actually want to do mechanically.

looks, nice, but id say colour coded mesh, when mine was black you could harldy see the mesh at all :/. Would look good with the mesh colour coded, something defferent

so after paint my grill and chevrons black, i decided it needed some mesh. So it got meshed with some stuff i had laying about in the shed, and painted black for now as i didn't have any icelandic spray. i also carbon wrapped the chevrons too.

On another note, She passed her MOT today with no adviosrys, although the emmissons where sky high we got around that . So can stick 6months tax on and actually start spending some money on her!
