Default no reverse?

right just bought a saxo vts, on a s reg.

when i got the car it has almost no clutch pedal and to change gear was very hard (you could just about get 1/2/3/4/5 but not reverse, i have adjusted the cable now and 1/2/3/4/5 you can get easy now, but still not reverse.

it will go half way in, so when you lift the clutch it makes a crunching noise, but it doesnt crunch when trying to put it in reverse with the clutch down, but it just wont go into reverse!

so anyone got any ideas?

If i select reverse, it will go half way in and crunch when you let up the clutch.

if i select reverse but hold it back as far as i can, then lift the clutch it will reverse as it should no problems.

last week randomly it went into reverse lovely, in and out for at least 20 times no problem at all.

now its done it again, iv looked under the car at the linkages, they all seem free, and not bent at all.

can any one help!

it still wont go in reverse with the car not running tho? so surely not that.

it feels more linkage/mount problem, but i cant see anything wrong.
