stared to swop the engine's over
but then, yet ANOTHER change!!
myself and chris decided it would be better to join forces so we could both get a season. i put my engine into the 106. he done itcc and i done time attack (where i won the 1600cc class!)
then it was chris's time for ITCC, unfortunatly it didnt go totally to plan,
after hitting a really high kerb it pulled the front suspension off the 106, so i offered up my gaz suspension for the rest of the season
then i broke the engine at round 4 of time attack, the cam pulley came off the cam, it was torqued by the last person who done the head on it.
i scored enough points to get the 1600cc title in club which was nice
sent the head off to dan daly to get it sorted, one of the valves came right up through the head making shite of one of the solid lifters, they done a great job down there, all it needed was a bit of machining to smooth down where the valve came up through it, 4 valves and one solid lifter. not the worst
then we discovered why it didnt make a whole lot of power, the head gasket that was in it was a standard Gti gasket and it sould have been a lot smaller, should have been 0.6mm rather that the 1.6mm it was. there would have been very little compression on the engine. I still havnt had the engine mapped yet and its not back in the saxo yet either but when it is im hoping it will make the power it used to make (197bhp) with the emerald ecu.
so anyway, back to the saxo, I started back working on the saxo recently, first job was to spray the engine bay, and nice clean area to work with which was nice
next was to rebuild the rear beam, I wasnt looking forward to this job, no idea what condition it would be in, as it turned out it wasnt the worst, bearings were good and stub axel was good to, no scoreing. so i put in my new massive torsion bars and gave it a good lick of paint and put it together.
old V new torsion bars
next was to tackle the windows, again not the worst job, although murray motorsport pissed me off when i was buying the window slider kit, another story
engine bay painted
decided to make the front bumper quick relase
engine back in
new brake lines going in
This is the car as it stands now. its basicly ready to go, copper brake lines in, all i need now is fuel lines for the car to start then get it mapped.
this is the engine bay now
I have other pictures of the other small things i have done on the car and ill put them up when i have them uploaded
