Surround Sound Setup...
At my new house I have my own little room where my Hi-Fi, Computer, TV and DVD player.
I am really wanting surround setup where it sounds really good, how much should I be paying for one and where can I get it from? Some people in Yorkshire area may heard of CCL computers just wondering if you could recommend anywhere?
Thanks,
Luke

£80 - £200
The more in price. the more in volume really.
if its just for your room, get a JVC or Sony setup from Argos.

I use CCL all the time for computer and camera blah blah.
I need a set up too for my HDTV and stuff. Guna get it sorted in a few weeks once the room has all been done.

I think CCL are good, bought all my Internet/Wireless network from there including a few laptop bits.
Think I may go over on Saturday and have a browse!

Ok man, the budget isnt a lot to play with so quality is going to take a sacrifice...
I take £150 is including the amp and speakers? ya?
My advise would be to go to Richersounds and see whats going on there. grab a cataloge and report back here, so we can tell you wat to avoid and what to get.

PS... With that budget would you consider going 2.1 setup? or getting two floorstanders instead??? is the surround REALLY necessary?

for 150 your not gonna get magic sound but you will get a decent setup...
I know a few people who have this and i think its ace, to say i had a denon setup and thought that sounded better. - Although the wireless pair would be better being replaced with some wired in ones.
A bit of a budget push but deffo worth it...
Check ebay for a decent amp and speakers, there may be some bargains to be had on collection only local to you.

I've been scaling the internet for a new Home Cinema System in the last week.
I'm quite liking the look of this one at the moment: -

Around £4.5k i think? one of my mates dad bought one similar from bose... A guy comes to the house and sets it up to optimise it according to the acoustics of the room - which is nice
Anyway this my suggestion...
2 Speaker system... IMO better for your needs man (seeing as though only the DVD will actually output surround sound)
Floorstander Speaker inc Sub £50
Amp - £70
Then plenty left over for decent OCF wiring.
That system will be a load better audioly (new word made by me) than the pappy all-in-one offerings.

I like the fact it has a "How to Buy" instead of a "Buy Now" button. lol

Bose do have a 'seconds' store at McArtherGlen in Cheshire Oaks and was amazed at the prices. Was dragged out kicking and screaming by the misses as the wallet was coming out of the pocket!

And if you must go Surround then...
5.1 Amp with Dolby PLII - £120
Speakers - £80
Ok its over budget BUT! you've got the Pro Logic II which upmixes 2-Channel to 5.1. So you can upmix TV, 2 channel DVD, Radio and PC to surround. I dont know if you looked at my system in much detail when you were at mine mate but that's pretty much how i have mine setup - the quality is great. Ok, not Bose, Arcam or Cyrus great but still far better than most.
