Default A few problems, opinions appreciated

Hi all, I'm hoping some of you can shed some light on a few things.

1) When I start the car, I can hear a whirring noise, and I've discovered today that the whirring is in time with the sounds I can hear from the exhaust, it resonates the same. Doesn't happen when the engine is warm, any ideas?

2) I can hear a whirring noise when I move the wheel, I assume it's the power steering pump, but is that normal or is it knackered?

3) When I do the rear window jets, it comes out the front?

4) The car seems to be overheating when idling, just started doing it, but it's happening a lot now. Someone suggested it could be a winterstat on the car, and now it's starting to warm up, it could be releasing the hot water too slowly?

5) Central locking from the key fob doesn't seem to work when it's cold. Any ideas?

Your help is much much appreciated

In relation to 1), the noise gets worse if I rev it a little. Sounds like a belt of some sort...

As much as I love the car, these niggly problems are doing my nut in! The handbrake light is usually on as well, if I push the handle over to the left, it goes off.. Any ideas on that? lol

1.-Could be heatshield on the mani viabrating or the fuel pump.

2.-This is normal.

3.-This is just a weirde electrical problem that pops up on 106's often. If it aint doing you any harm dont worry about it.

4.-This could be many things. The thermostat could be seized shut leaving the coolant in the engine to get too hot. Check to make sure your fan comes on after anout 10 mins, if not it could be that. Make sure you have coolant in the radiator. Check the coolant for oil or mayo like sludge. Check the oil with the dipstick to make sure its clean and thin after warm up.

Hope This Helps

Peter

The connection is probably loose and is leaning weirde so when you push on it the light comes up. Have a look and clean up the connections.

The whole handbrake is loose mate, if I leave it as it is, the light is on, if I pushit slightly to the left, it goes off.

Is that an MOT fail by the way?

Number one sounds like an alternator belt to me as you said it gets louder when you rev it does it mines doing the same atm you just need to replace the belt or just check if its lose of to tight

the second as already said is normal

number 3 sounds like a shitty french problem lol

and number check the thermostat you can do this buy taking it out and putting it in a bowl of boiling water and it should open if it doesnt you need a new one

number 5 sounds a french problem again
