1.1i Induction Kit
I've got a Mk1 1.1i Spi Saxo, and would like to fit an induction kit. Whilst any power gains would certainly be appreciated (It's a 1.1 for God sake, even a decent tailwind is appreciated! ) I'm not looking to fit an induction kit for any kind of power gain, I simply want something which will look and sound good
My question, will a kit designed for a VTR/VTS/1.4 fit my engine (with a little modding, if needed) or do I specifically need a kit designed for the 1.1? The reason I ask is that 1.1 kits are extremely thin on the ground and those which are available are quite pricey!
I've got my eye on the following;
Kit 1
Kit 2
Kit 3
Kit 4
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I'd like to get the kit on soon to help tidy the bay up a bit.
Cheers,

you will find that the throttle body on the lower spec models (non VTS) is further away and you'll need to get a longer samco hose to bridge the gap. Otherwise no real reason why any wouldn't fit.
Good you are realistic about the kit. On a 1.1 you won't make massive power gains but it does get rid of all that horrible o/e ducting which can one be a good thing
could I suggest kit 5? a raceland enclosed.

Yes any kit suitable for a furio/VTR or S will fit your car mate, you may have to mod the one for the VTS as the oil breather pipe is in a gay position! If its sound your after then any of the above will do!
however you may (some say will) loose power from all of them, except from "kit 2" however you might be better off to purchase a better filter for this, the best one is said to be the 'green' filter! "kit 2" not only offers a beastly sound, but you may also feel a slight increase in performance, i.e. throttle response, but it will be a minor amount on a 1.1!
hope this helps

In relative terms any air filter come induction kit open or enclosed can be made to fit any car - with abit of time.
Decide which out of the five you want, then order it. Once you have the filter mock it up in the engine bay and meassure which hoses and tubing/piping you will need.
Silicone Hoses and Polished tubing/piping can be bought from www.espdesign.co.uk
Dont forget if your going with a open cone (K&N57i style kit) your need some kinda cold air feed to deliver cold air to the filter this can also be found on ESP's website or at your local Halfords if needs be :-)

Also if you want a nice sounding filter get a pipercross one as they do sound very nice.

If i were you, i would avoid Kit 3 (Quickshift Filter) as the filter medium is only a stainless steel mesh. It is possible it will flow well, but your engine will be sucking in harmfull dust and dirt which will KO your engine fairly quickly.

vtr/s kit will not fit a 1.1 spi as the filter sits on top of the inlet, you wont get the bonnet closed if you just whacked a vt* cone filter on top of it and you'll never see an increase in performance on a 1.1 with an air filter as all the base model filter are open filter which do nothing but suck in hot air and make a noise.
