The driver is everything tbh but a car with no power will loose if it can't keep up

It's not only power... It's also weight/tyres/suspension.
It's logical a stock STI "loses" to a cammed/stripped VTS.

That vid is good but it shows a guy who obviously knows the track and his car really well. The other drivers could be new to the track or car or both so your bound to piss on them. That said, i'm not arguing against the points being made, i just wanted to highlight this as another variable in the whole "look at me blasting bigger cars on a track" situation.
Good videos though... Need to get back on the track soon!

it just goes to show how a half decent driver can pilot something that probably has half the power and not quite half the weight as fast as something that has a lot more power and in theory better handling (4wd)...
|
Thing is though that saxo on the straights isn't far off speed wise to scoobie, not knocking your point at all but the power to weight of both are probably quite close..
Like when my cousin went to croft with his girlfriend in his evo 5, she was getting done by civics, clio sports etc. As she was new to track. My cousin was then obviously knocking spots off them and they couldn't get close.
A good driver makes the world of difference, that's proven eith the tranny van round the nurburgring by that crazy german chick... clarkson was struggling in a much more powerful jag.

The ring exaggerates EVERYTHING scares the living bejesus out of me! Especially going 120mph down foxhole with a pack of 911's and Megane's sat on your back bumper with a left hander coming up LOL
So JP share the love? Why's the engine out?

I was doing 130+ in Alex's gti down the foxhole last year... Love that section!
You'll have to wait and see. Here's a teaser for now...

Agreed Martin, it flows so nicely, and then the compression at the bottom of the hill + the mentally quick left hander at the top of the hill before the right hander before Adenau Forst - EPIC!
Hopefully we will get the chance to take you out on a pax lap in the mango this summer

All the downhill sections scare me to be honest as you don't quite realise how fast you are going and then its the opposite on the uphill one's as you don't realise how fast you can go. Really want to get there again soon! Maybe next year with you guys would be good. Some pax laps would be a help as done around 10 in various cars over various days/conditions so never had a good flowing lap as of yet. Must be shite scary in a mentally fast little tin can too aye JP

A scooby also costs alot more in parts to repair / replace. My coilvers were £500 and that is a cheap set. Then there is the brakeing, a scooby is heavier so is going to take a bit more to stop. I would not think twice about throwing my old saxo around the roads, yet i dont keep up with corsa's on the back roads in my scooby....untill i get on the straights

Lovely car JP it really is a credit to you.
In the debate....
A driver in a boosted car that knows what there doing, with less power, less weight than other evo's and runs a much quicker lap than bigger powered evo's.
Really does solely depend on the driver, if you kept switching the drivers between boosted and N/A it would be interesting to see the time differences etc.
This guy knows the ring, not massive power but it's in the right hands... the drivetrain has been upgraded by the sounds of it though...
