Cool reverse lights wont come on

i've noticed in the last few days when i put my saxo in reverse the reverse lights wont come on they do come on every so often or when i realy bang it in to reverse anybody have any ideas whats the problem thanks

Gearbox reverse switch.

Check its clean.

It's on top of the gearbox.

mine dont work either but you dont need them for a MOT so i just left them lol

is the reverse switch inside the gearbox or outside???

the mechanical part of the switch is inside the gearbox if you disconnect the lead and use a 19mm spanner (i think) to remove the switch, check the condition, my reverse light wasnt working when i bought the car and found this to be the problem
