V and Mrs V would like to thank....
...cyclists.
Actually, the bunch of cock-knocking, dick sniffers who were cycling 5 abreast down Hardknott pass this morning. V, Mrs V, and the two Vidalettes (along with enough camping gear to make a cub master go all misty eyed!), were engaged in a little 1 in 3 action (uphill) when the said cyclists appeared. V has to do an emergency stop - on a bend, with running water across the road surface. Smell of burning clutch ensues, no way can the Czech battlebus do a fully loaded 1 in 3 hill start with minimal adhesion - 3 point turn on a single track road with a soft verge and sheer drop is not FTW.
Only my 1337, Hamiltonesque skillz enabled me to turn the car round after reversing for several hundred metres in the rain along the twisties - not something I would like to do ever again.
Luckily the clutch is made of sterner stuff than my skiddies, I feel a mammoth red wine session with a healthy dose of Laphroaig may be on the cards.

Daily drive is an tds Octy. Moon miles and more dings than Dings-R-Us. Has never let me down, loads of space and comfort and 50 mpg+.

i got stuck behind a single cyclist today and he was a pain in the arse, can't imagine how five of them in the way makes you feel! when you say moon miles how many are you talking? i've got a mondeo on my drive with 322,000 on the clock

i knw how you feel V Hardknott pass is a scary road without 5 abreast cyclists, remember when my dad was drivin us along it in really bad fog, Scariest moments ever ensused.
