Oh, well, word to that!

This was my old car which was sold to my brother, after the best part of a year working on the bodywork its nice to have a quick sale and keep it in my family so I can oversee further mods lol.

I hope to bring my current projects bodywork up to the same standard!

My mobile hair salon! Funded partly from the saxbrown, something of a restoration with 210-ish BHP, J-Euro ftw.

Putting a new Exedy stage 1 clutch in to handle the turbo, this was approx. 20 hours after owning the car!

Tiny Momo in!

Air con out and a bit of wiring tidied up, this was a pretty epic job tbh, worse than the clutch!

Some venting was required around the Turbo/Manifold.

Bonnet off.

After some random hole drawing this was the rough plan.

Measured up.

Chopped.

Filed.

Coupled this with a stainless heat shield, boxing off the hot side of the turbo.

EBC Turbo discs grooved and dimpled with greenstuff pads and HEL braided lines went on shortly after.

Front, upgraded to 1.8 diameter discs and 1.8 calipers.

The old rear discs!? Binned.

The good stuff! New hoops! Schmidt Modernline 3 piece splits 16" x 8.5J and 16" x 9.5J.

6 point weld-in rollcage.

Air fuel and Boost gauge shot.

Trimmed my sil steps down because the lower door bar is welded to the chassis.

Fitting a new wing! D:

Started to fit the new arch flares to house the new wheels. Oh and theres a hardtop in there too aswell as some oldschool retro mirrors!

3 piece modernlines on the front! Car looks high but I've just lowered it off stands and want some thicker profile (still stretched) tires, then I'll address more lows after all that!

Rear quarter was doubled skinned, and thus required welding together!

photos of the rear arch trial fit!

The arches are 'Tuckin99 N2 Fender Flares' for referance if anyone is interested check out Rev9 Autosport << Link.

Lateral fitment is fucking awsome, just needs more lows now.

I went to my local motorsport garage to measure up a 3" inside diameter exhaust with as little bends as possible and the 'x' is roughly where its going to finish!

This coupled with the epic idea of a diffuser should look something like this, with a gap above for the exhaust.

A little bit of artistic drawing.. (I used a card template cutout to make sure each side was the same)

We are now up to date this photo was taken on Sunday the 6th.

Ready for the exhaust and diffuser and then flat bottom the car with an undertray! I know its a bit messy, but finished product is going to be good imo!

Plans are;

Diffuser. (obviously) ^^

Slightly higher profile tires. (with a tad of stretch!)

Coilovers if the wheels don't fill the arches with the new tires.

New rear lights.
>Link<

Respray.

Then attack the engine with forged goodies and another bar of pressure accompanied by some 550cc injectors to sap all of the life out of my wallet.

I hope to see some track days on 240bhp at the rear wheels by summer, but we'll see.

Comments welcome, thanks for reading a non - saxo, non - 56k friendly post!

Thanks for comments! The rollcage was a custom job and took a very very long time to correctly measure up with the roof, work on it wasn't so bad though actually having the roof down helped a lot lol.

Its welded to 6 x 6mm plates at each foot, can't remember the grade of steel used, mind I can find out.

Also all measurements have been recorded iirc, if you know anyone with an MX5 they want to track lol . . .

Titch needs that cage, mind the turbo wouldn't go amiss either.

Like the diffuser idea, I wanted something like on the MR2 till I found out half the rear of the car is still behind the bumper anyway

Thanks for comments!

@ Tufty - unfortunately the motorsport garage that fabricated my roll cage has "tested" several of their own sponsored cars roll cages! One of the worst being a spin out on a fast sweeping corner and then being hit by another driver head on at 65mph - 70mph, the engine was written off but the roll cage front leg only moved 6mm backwards! (The driver knocked two of his teeth out on the steering wheel mind! Should have had a full face helmet on lol )

Albeit my angles/dimensions are different, there isn't too much sweep on the main hoop and it feels great to drive, feel every twitch at the back end! I genuinely believe it is a 100% safer car to drive and chassis rigidity is better than new. One of the issues with the cage design was getting the seats side mounted to give some 6" clearance on the padded top bar, with a tight harness there is no danger of your head hitting it, but that is one implication of having a roll cage in a daily, if your head hits a bar in a smash without a helmet you may well be worse off having it!

Small update, lacking photos! Picked up some custom made hubcentrics because the Schmidts had a tad too much poke on there rear, which sat fucking awsome with the 215/35 tire on the 9.5J rim but I need to up my rubbers to a 225/50 to fill out some arch gap, and generally protect the Schmidts on track! Still a tad stretched though.

Also just had a delivery of three and a quarter inch inside diamater stainless steel, nil silencers and no cat.

Exhaust pics soon!
