Carb'd and Cam'd R Power - Carbs arrived! - Saxperience

Hey, seeing as my last thread wasn't really a 'Progress Thread' and everything has gone down a new route I thought I'd make a new thread.

Getting straight to the point, Im aiming for alot of Track days and something different, car is a daily so nothing to crazy!

Had alot of bad luck so far, gearbox I bought the car with pissed oil everywhere, replaced it with 1.1 Box which lasted 300 miles and then decided to crack the casing. Which then got replaced with a VTR box and lasted 30 miles! So I thought fk it lets go all out on it! So lets begin!

The Current Spec:

- Raceland 4-2-1 Manifold.
- Supersprint 2" full race system.
- Powerflex Lower Engine mount.
- Various bits flocked.

The plans:

- Re-built VTR Box.
- Honda CBR 900 Bike Carbs.
- Newman PH3 Cam.
- Strip // JPSaxo style.
- Polycarbs.
- Bilstien B8 setup.
- Smoothed Bay.
- Buckets n Vibrations.
- 266mm Setup.

Bits to fix//fixed:

- Leaking sunroof (Fixed)
- Rear quarters replaced with non tinted.
- Heaters//De-Mist (Fixed)
- Speedo (Fixed)
- Rear Arch badly rusted (Fixed)
- Re-fix trim panels.
- Re-fix doorcards.

Will get more into depth tomorrow, rushing as work early tomorrow, so will edit this! Plans are alot bigger, and keeping a few for surprise, to keep you all interested! You get the general idea of what im aiming for.

lol what a wierd conclusion to come to..my gearboxs have all fucked me so ill spend lots of money on it, fuck it

most people would just give up aha
why dont you get a better gearbox/diff whatever if your going to the effort of rebuilding and carbs and cams etc
bet you wont see the plans through

you always give up lol

You say strip jp saxo style does that mean youll leave half the stuff like carpet ect in and get a pretty decent cage and seats to compensate?
or just strip it half arsed?

Well you never know the history of the box.. Both 'apparently' was perfect. Im not going to point any names, but both boxes are of well known people on here.

And once its done I can clock off it, and know when I do run more power through it and track day its going to be alright with taking a hammering.

Looking at Tran-X diff too, but alot of money if im honest even at price I can get them at.

And im going to try and stick with the plans! MOT due 4th May though, so hoping it pass's if all goes well the car should be running carbs for FCS11 and be on the track, as will be a good tester and time to setup them up perfectly. Keep a eye on this thread Nicole

Well as its a Daily want it nice in drivers part still, liveable with. Will be putting either Rallye cards in front or carbon 1's all around, will be a proper job.. But interior staying in until I have everything, as hate half arsed jobs like you said, running stripped and standard front seats and doorcards etc..

Looking at what seats + cage to get at the moment to give me ideas really and how much Ill be looking at.

In ur budget avoid sparco as theyre really ueavy. Cobra are pretty light if you dont egt the shit under £240 ones each

Its knocking, think its input shaft. Stripping the box tonight so will tell you whats fk'd on it.

ever thought your inner cv is worn and it's not the box?

you using the right fluid? the right amount of litres and that?

Well already checked all other possibilities and there fine, using Gearoil which Opieoils recommended me, and amount of litres going by Haynes manual.

I had a passenger side shaft once which knocked but felt solid and the boot was in good nick yet it knocked on throttle. that box was sweet when I removed it I wouldn't of sold it if it wasn't Liam! I'm not that type of person

I never said you would Lee, Im not saying its your fault.. Just I seem to be having bad luck with Gearboxes if im honest, it was knocking really loud on idle, not my release bearing has had brand new clutch 300 miles ago.. Gearbox will be in bit tomorrow so will let you know the fault. And don't worry im not blaming you.
