now i get why some go to uni, i get why others didnt, i never went and glad i never, the reason ive took your quote is because like you say, you are doing all this for a potential wage, i can only use my mates as examples, but all of them said they would earn mega money, or at least decent, none of them do, and they have been out of uni for a few years now, also couldnt get jobs in what they wanted to do, or if they have, it only slightly relates to it, but career wise, its not the best.
all people who say about uni go on and say about the jobs they can get after earning x amount. the people who say no point are the ones who are out there with a job and know what its like to have a proper job (not saying you all dont know at uni) i mean career job, they have seen it first hand and have experience of what its like out there getting started.
i know you all say people who go to uni and work in asda and so on are the ones that did shit degrees, but those who are doing good degrees, it could also happen to you, the way country is going/is there wont be that much money about, not much money to invest. the way things are, and ive seen this from experience, companies are going for people with experience over fresh out the box grads.

I know plenty of people who have graduated and got jobs and yes I watch the news, thanks, you will probably find it's people who have got degrees in colouring or the like.
I would class landscaping to be a 'lower, skivvy' kind of job (nothing wrong with this) in comparison to being something like a GP/Surgeon, would you not?
|
landscaping as an example im not just goign to change the exmple ever post!
so if you have been watching the new you would of seen that students are coming out of uni with dets and just not being able to get a job this is what i am saying!
I wouldnt class it as lower at all i would class a labour or builder as lower in a way not landscapes exsecily the onwer/boss of the company that does not even get dirty. but yeah GP/Surgeon people would say its a higher job. but you chould argue which earns more money?

Yeah of course a jobs not guaranteed, but nor is employment after picking up a trade, and being able to get work.
You could argue it, but I wouldn't expect them to earn more, doctors/surgeons are on close to 6 figure salary's
either way, I'm not knocking apprenticeships or people who don't choose uni, you can find success story's from both

im looking into going onto the oil rigs, mechanical maintenance engineers earn £50k+ and require a degree in mechanical engineering.
also, im 24 and have been working since 16, full time since 19 in the same job. ive got an nd in motor vehicle so have hands on experience as well. hopefully i wont be seen as a "fresh out the box grad"
either way mechanical engineering is hard and will always look good on my cv, and with my experience in the insurance industry i have that to go back to.
id say most peolpe with a worthwhile degree earn more than if they didnt have one though eventually

Course you are if you have learnt a trade you are pritty much always going to have work on!
Not all companys can aford taking on graduates.
And thats only the top doctors/surgeons, not every doctors/surgeons would be on a 6 figure salary.

The interest rate is linked to inflation and is set every year. It has been set for the next academic year at 2.4%. For 'new' students starting from September 06, their student loan will be written off after 25 years. For existing students they will be written off when you reach the age of 65 or if you become permanently disabled and unfit for work; or if you die. Student loan debts can never be passed onto anyone else.

aNd I know 25 years seems a long time, but seeing as its not an apprenticeship I will never ever get a job, because none of anyones mates have, so I will never earn enough ever.

Uni threads always get an argument about apprenticeships etc and who earns the better wage...
I'm doing an apprenticeship although I do wanna go to uni as well
Hopefully I'll be able to do a degree after i've finished my apprenticeship with Jaguar Land Rover then again if they think you're good enough they'll offer you a foundation degree with them
You don't start paying student finance off until you're earning over £20,000 anyways

Once fully qualified at Jaguar Land Rover it's a minimum of £22k wage!
Get yourself in there with an apprenticeship
