Default Engine bay detailing advice!

Hi guys,

New Saxo VTR project here. I need to sort out a project thread soon.

Any tips on cleaning the engine bay?

Any methods or products you find good?

I'd like to see some of your clean bays too!

Many thanks

Daniel

WD40 or some back to black, and just elbow grease and time!
If engine is oily then use some degreaser.

Thanks for the reply and tidy bay jbrady72.

I have degreased it and started cleaning. Lots of white corrosion to get rid of next, probably a wire brush is required.

Didnt make a blind bit of difference. Not even a satin finish. It rubbed on the faded bumped and dried faded.

In all seriousness, for the initial cleaning stage (before tarting bits up with products) baby wipes are a god send

It is mate and cheers.

Just put a good few hrs aside and graft hard. Worth it in the end, and just maintain it.

Kamracing is decent yeah.

Putting in the effort is key and well worth it (especially if the end result is as good as yours!).

Think I'll be ordering some of their Brembo Discs for the rear, Brembo pads all round and a Green Cotton panel filter, unless anyone has a better suggestion?

Not to thread jack, but I've recently picked up a vtr. Pretty happy with it, but that engine bay looks like it's never been touched! How do you guys reccommend tackling it? I'll try get some pictures up so you can see the state its in!

A 44 meter daily commute to the crisp mines of Mordor and back is the #1 way to a clean bay!

Hiya,

Basically the same question I posted.

The conclusion is ; time and effort.

Wire brush, WD40, plenty of rags, possibly some emery paper and some paint!

Gtechniq C4 Permanent Trim Restorer is voodoo magic. Fucking amazing. I don't rate the rest of their products much but C4 makes plastic trim look epic.
