Knockhill Honda DC5 vs Exige S vs VX220 - YouTube
|
Well hardcore_b8 i watched the vid and from what i can gather...
The DC5 owner knows the track very well and is giving it death
The VX220 is also giving it death
The Exige is being conservative on the corners but on the straights it annhialates both...watch at 6 minutes into it, the Exige pull away so much harder
Stick the driver of the DC5 in the Exige and the Exige would be gone from the word go

Exige s1's are probably the best car to buy at the moment. They are actually goin up in value rather than depreciating.
This argument has happened before on here with almost everyone sayin a 'well sorted' vts can keep up with an exige. And i laffed. I tend to find people who havent experienced a true fast car believe its impossible for somethin like an exige to be that much faster than a 'well sorted vts'.
I have been on track in both my vts ( around 150 bhp ) and i have had the privelidge of bein a passenger in an exige s1 which was my dads. And also a honda type r engined exige.
type in honda exige in youtube and see a vts or anythin for that matter live with it.
An exige anywhere, on track or on the road will demolish almost anythin.
You just look a bit of a nob turnin up to a meetin in it, or goin tesco for a sandwich.
Also its not comfy , but i guess thats not the point.
There is a video on youtube of a honda exige lapping the ring about 30 seconds of the lap record.. I would like to see any fwd drive attempt that = death.

Cheers buddy, they're still rubbing but could you get us a pic please? Driving me mad! And I rotate the tyres after each trackday so going to have the same issue at the end of the month

There isnt many S1's around thats why!
The idea being once our house deposit is saved, then I can save for a weekend car, with the exige suiting the bill perfectly

Extremely well sorted car this. I'm loving the winter wheels too, but you can see how close the rears sit to the inside arch from pictures let a lone cornering with speed. I thought you we're raising it 25mm anyway ? Or is it still rubbing even with the raised suspension.
Personally I wouldn't drive about on damaged tyres, no matter how strong the 888's are. Just my opinion.
Definitely get an Exige, mint cars.

Winter wheels have gone, made £70 on them
Haha it was meant to be lowered 25mm! Raised the rear today, now sits at my desired 25mm, just the front to do but had to help my old man fit new discs & pads to his van. Fronts shouldnt take too long but then need another laser alignment doing check my negative camber is all ok
888's will be fine, nearly worn out now so the rota torque/r888 set up will be my track only wheels. Think euro wheels & rainsports for the winter, something different...?

Busy few days with the car. Met a chap from the ctr forum for OEM rims, ebay bargaining got me part worn Potenzas with 7mm tread for £150 delivered £115 each from camskill...
Trip to Eightspeed for Buddyclub roll centre adjusters and another FRSU, -1.3 negative camber rear and -1.5 up front forgot the toe settings lol.
Trackday today Car handled really well and caught most things through the bends, got past a impreza turbo, caged cooper s, mazda mps etc.
Nice white caged 106 rallye there, but seems he blew up not far ahead of me
Was awesome, service the car now, clean the pads up and whip winter wheels on and leave her alone for abit now. Need to save some coin, Donington next year!
Pictures;
Comments, good or bad?
Cheers
Dan

Not looking forward to washing it next week, melted rubber stuck to my bonnet/bumper/wheels and a million flies, roll on next year when I get take her out again..
LSD will be purchased next year too.
Another picture of me attempting to chase down Brens 300+ bhp civic (no chance! ), with Julian behind me;
And the cooper s race car which took me 4 laps of chasing to get round, only to be told by the geezer he was just starting his cool down lap when I got passed him! lol
And cooling down in the garage next to Robs (Area Motorsport) car;

Cheers fellas, I quite like the novice sticker TBH, especially when going past full on track cars with slicks etc! Sleeper look lol
The mini I managed to keep up with was Jake Packun, who came 2nd in the clio cup @ brands on sunday!
Car now serviced with doing;
Motul oil & a Hamp oil filter
NGK spark plugs
Ferodo DS2500 pads scrubbed down, looks like theyve melted out on track hence the brake judder... :/
Arches degreased & cleaned
OEM wheels washed & waxed
Rota wheels washed & waxed and tyres deflated ready for next year
Car washed, super resined & waxed
Interior detailed
Plan now is to leave her alone over winter, looking to book Oulton again in Jan/Feb, dirt cheap out of season so will have to be done. May need new track tyres - 5k of road miles & x3 track days has pretty much destroyed the r888s!
Now looks like a standard CTR, and the road tyres are fun - back end slides right out now!
No more updates this year, but so far the civic has been a cracking car. Roll on more track days in 2012!
Final picture;
Thanks for looking,
Dan
