alloy wheels and paint - Saxperience

So I have come to re conning my wheels and painting and this is the 4th time this year as brake dust seems to be eating away at the fking paint.

Is their anything besides clear coat I can put on the top to stop it from eating at paint and soaking into them.

Am doing like maybe 3 to 4 coats of primer and same for paint then clear coat on top. Front keep fucking up. Back are perfectly fine.

Maybe some new brake pads that are anti dust if they exists?

What kind of paint are you using? If you want a tough finish the only way to go is to get them properly powder coated really. Maybe 2k Paints would last better but then its not a good idea to be spraying 2k without a proper air fed mask.

My S wheels were powder coated 4 years ago, still mint when I clean the brake dust off

Powder coating is fine as long as you don't anneal the aluminium making it soft for example bake below 225'c. The best the op can do at home is to buy a 3m 2k respirator (brown filters) and get some pre mixed 2k clear coat and heat cycle them in a small container or I use the spare room with the radiator on for a few days. Then use a high quality wheel wax such as poor boys and it will last a hell of a lot longer.

Been using normal alloy spray paint back wheels are bang on front just pain in ass and plagud with dust and eatting away at paint maybe take n get done powered coated am thinking against white but looks the part when gleeming

I also had mine powder coated and must say this type of coating really lasts! Hope it works on your wheels as well, man!

Lmfao they get cleaned once a week wheb car gets cleaning so I know it's not dirt build up think is brake dust from them but got some new pads and bit more on premium price so gonna see if any improvements

What you using to clean them with? I use Autoglym on my bmw but I wash it off after 30 seconds (anything that hurts you hands instantly I could never see how paint could hold up to)
