Evening chaps hope all is well, just thought I'd have a little write up. Progress is still being made
Got a new alternator fitted with the 8v brackets and new belt . Had to take the front end back off to drill a snapped bolt out the block though which tested my patience !
Got a turbosmart e boost 1 controller for a sum of £60 on eBay. Have started wiring that in but don't have a clue where the yellow signal wire is for the rpm ? Also need a pod of some description but it's a 63mm gauge .
All I need is a ecu to get it started, I want to go for an omex after phoning the company where it will be getting mapped . I've messaged sandy about getting a loom made up but he must be flat out as I haven't heard back from him .
Anyone else which can make looms ? Must be a proper job as I don't want any problems come mapping.
Before I swapped the old looking alternator

Good looking progress!
If you want a proper job I would wait out on a reply from Sandy if I'm honest. There's a guy over on 106owners who had a lot of trouble with his quicksilver 16v before taking it to Sandy and getting the job done properly, same goes for mapping.

Evening mate. Car isn't running at the moment. But my goal is to get 300hp . I wouldn't be disappointed if I got less though as long as it runs and is half reliable haha

A rather large update if I say so myself . Couldn't thank sandy brown enough for making my loom and supplying the data s40 ecu. Wasted no time in getting it all fitted and started .
However did have a big problem resulting in no spark or injection but only turned out to be a faulty crank sensor , even to Sandys surprise fitted a different one and it started like a gooden .
Still a lot of work to get the car how I want it but it's as far as I've ever been. So I'm not giving up just yet
And just a small clip 😂😂

Bloody hell . Long time no speak . Yes finally getting there after a while of not doing anything on the car. But pulled my finger out and it's not far off been done . Just shitty little jobs now haha .
Anyhow have you still got yours ? If so how's it been treating you ?

Cheers mate. It does take a lot of effort , but when you see the results it pays off .

I'm cleaning up the underside of mine at the moment a bit at a time then once that's done move onto the bodywork, I'm hoping they might let me use the spray booth at college cos I'm going back in September to get qualified as a paint technician look forward to seeing the pics !

Takes a bit of doing hahah. I used a cut brush on a grinder for several hours . Then used gravitex by u-pol . Would highly recommend it plus you can paint / spray over it any colour you like .

Haha that's what I'm doing just ordered myself some different brush attachments for the grinder cos I'm having difficulty getting into the edges and corners on the boot floor and where the petrol tank was, did you spray the underside with it on axle stands or you get it on a proper ramp?

Hahah yes that's all I used. Get some small wire brushes for a drill as these get nicely into the corners. And yes just on axle stands. Ball ache but got there in the end

Haha cheers mate feel a bit better about getting it done now I know you managed it, it does seem to take forever and you're in such an awkward position lying under the car with a death grip on the grinder so it doesn't end up stuck in your chest lol!

Haha , this is the second one I've done underneath so it isn't all that bad. Just make sure you spend a lot of Time and don't try and do it in one night after work . (Which I tried once and looked like an abortion )
But I did want to use our sand blaster but due to being in a a garage/shed and having no wheels and front struts in I could only do it with a grinder and drill and plenty of patience.
Oh and get some goggles which seal against your face as glasses let all the crap in and hurts like Fxck . Wish you luck
P.s just looked at your recent posts about priming before under seal. I used u-pol acid etch primer before the u-pol gravitex and when I tried to put it on really thick it reacted in some places . Causing the stone chip to run away so to speak .
Put on steady coats or the same might happen to you . Just a heads up .

Thanks for all the help, hope you don't mind me posting all this in your thread feel free to delete it or whatever I'll probably go with the same as you've used when I get around to doing the underseal. Just taking my time to make sure it gets done right and good shout on the goggles will be getting some better ones!

Not to worry, that's what forums are for ! Helped me out a lot when I was starting off with cars. In the meantime I'm currently trying not to get shot in turkey for the next week and a half, so if no response to this thread then you know why hahah .
