Default How to: Wiring up a 6 point FIA kill switch

Ignition wiring is incorrect, the saxmax was incorrectly wired. Am rectifying it now and will update accordingly

a quick question, not sure if I'm missing the point, but what's the difference between a simple 2 way kill switch to the above 6 way !?

The 6 point has 2 more switches on the bottom of it. One is the ignition, the other is a positive feed back to a resistor. This prevents the run on, in the event of the switch being turned off on the move, from blowing the diode pack. It gives the alternator current somewhere to go when it is cut and it is still charging.

So the advantage of this is that if the engine is running, and the switch is pulled to off - then a 6 way switch has somewhere for the current to go in the time difference between the switch being pulled and the engine revs falling to 0 ?

When the switch is on the ignition circuit is on and the resistor circuit is off. When the switch is off the ignition is cut and the resistor circuit is opened.

Another bump for the mods. It's the only guide on the net

Christ, wait a while. Mods aren't on here every minute so there's no need to bump 2 or 3 hours after another bump.

This is about the only worthwhile "how to" thread on saxp.
