Hi guys, hoping you could help me out here. Know its my first post n all but I could do with some advice. Gave my sister our old Saxo, shes only had it a few weeks and its failed MOT on-
Reason(s) for failure
Nearside Front position lamp(s) not working (1.1.A.3b)
Nearside Front constant velocity joint gaiter deteriorated to the extent that it no longer prevents the ingress of dirt etc (2.5.C.1a)
Offside Rear Radius arm has excessive play in a pin/bearing (2.4.G.2)
Nearside Rear Radius arm has excessive play in a pin/bearing (2.4.G.2)
Offside Front Tyre fouling a part of the vehicle brake hose (4.1.D.2)
Nearside Front Tyre fouling a part of the vehicle brake hose (4.1.D.2)
Its a totally standard 2003 3 door 1.1, 128k on the clock
I really liked it when I had it, great runabout. Unfortunately looks like the MOT center she took it to is maybe a touch proper, but hey if it needs fixing then it needs fixing. And secondly the car is nearly 2 hours away so I cant check it out myself directly.
Obviously its at the age where its uneconomical to pay a garage labour costs to fix it and I aint letting her scrap it. Tester has told her to scrap it and obviously shes a bit upset.
I'm guessing the Radius arms are referring to the trailing arms, and likely fixed by either a recon axle or a bush bearing kit?
CV joint self explanatory I think.
What is the tester on about with the tyres rubbing on the brake hose? Unless I've fitted the wrong size tyres (I aint) the other option is the the hoses both sides have magically moved. I'll have to have a look.
Any help or pointers with that lot would be greatly appreciated. I'd rather fix it myself than see it scrapped but if its totally pointless then scrap it is
Other less pressing complaints, feels like some slop in the drivetrain somewhere somehow, I dont know. Started up after a clutch replacement.
RH indicator plays up regularly, theres a sweet spot on the stalk that will get it going. Thinking stalk or something needs replacing.
Cheers all
