Paint. Meh. Kind of lost interest the past few weeks.

I've never seen this thread, good progress, it's spurred me on to stop using my VTS as a table!

Oh great, you're here. There goes the neighbourhood.

I'm glad it's spurring you on, it's doing the exact opposite for me at the moment!

flirting aside, your top mount strengthening plates look neat. Good job, where did you weld them, around the edges in a solid run?

They look neat because they are full of filler

But yeah, along the edges in a stitch as i didn't want to burn through. TBH i didn't get enough penetration on the drivers side so I'm expecting it to crack at some point and need taken off and re-welding.

filler?!?! Think of the weight!!

Interesting, I was sure I'd read somewhere that it was better to stitch weld them on than one continous weld.

I might do that. But without filler, as I'm not gay.

It's fine, I'll just eat one less kebab a year and it'll make up for the weight difference.

Yeah a single continuous weld can crack, but I'm certainly not skilled enough to do one continuous weld anyways

You'll want filler unless you can get them TIG'd or get a really really really neat MIG weld done. I'll find a picture of the Pre filler, they just look messy.

I'm like a welding genius man

I say genius, I mean enthusiastic amateur, with visual impairment.

Talk to me about bolts and top mounts and all that jazz. They don't come with them do they? Where did you get yours?

I'd say I'm more a professional welder who has had his hands chopped off and is trying to weld using hooks. Also I was blinded in a freak battle with the mountain, he gouged my eyes out.

No you don't get them with them, i just used some 8.8 bolts i had lying around and some nylock nuts on the underside to prevent any rattling loose (which is possible tbh)

Crotch straps attach to welded on eye bolts on the rear seat rail, right hand lap strap goes onto eye bolt on sill where that rail thing bolted on, weld a plate on the tunnel for the inside one.

Cheers dave. Haven't got a picture, have you? Only bit I'm confused about is the crotch straps as i thought they had to be at 10 degree's.

So i bought some plates to weld under the seat to keep them at that angle.
