Wow i can't believe its been 2yrs since my last update. In all honesty not much has been happening. The xsi is still up on ramps in the garage awaiting me to finish the brake lines. Having said that i have been gathering parts of late to crack on with the car when i have a bit of free time.

Firstly the Sparco strut brace i sent away to The Wheel Specialist Wolverhampton to get stripped back and powdercoated

Before

After

I have been looking for a vts/gti sump for a while as i currently have a non vts/gti sump which means no oil temp sensor fitted. I gave the sump a quick rub down and paint

DavidsVTR sold me a carbon fibre 106 radio blank. It only had one hole drilled for the gauge so got a second one drilled

I bought a quickshift

Then a bought a few bits off dan-sport. He bought a vts to break which originally belonged to gojka so i purchased the 266mm front brake setup, braided lines, Powerflex arb bushes, Vibratechnics gearbox mount, Bilstein group N rear shock absorbers and another Quickshift

I purchased myself a full polycarb window kit originally supplied by Templar Performance. The rear window has an original tinted border like standard. The front windows both have sliders and rear windows thermoformed.

And to house my polycarbs i got myself rear non opening window seals and windows

I got myself a pair of GMC ultimate road cams which i have been led to believe are of similar spec to the likes of 708s and ph3's

And last but not least i have finally tracked down a set of Rallye front bumper vents in black. I am currently waiting on these so here is the pic from the seller

Im sure i will have forgotten some things. All i need to do now is get them fitted !!!

My 106 Rallye bumper vents turned up today. I placed them in place but the bumper needs trimming to fit them correctly.

Another quick update on the xsi

Firstly dan-sport gave me an Odyssey PC680 that he found in a car at work but he didn't know the condition as it was left open circuit.

And i got the relevant cage for the battery pictured with a new junction box for in the engine bay to replace the audio one currently fitted

I also bought a 4amp charger for the battery to see what was what but its looking like the battery is scrap. I have tried charging and discharging several times but on our works battery tester its giving very low cca. So i will be replacing the battery for a new one.

I have been working on the 266mm calipers.
I stripped the calipers of there paint and removed the pistons to rebuild them with new seals

And i decided to compliment the calipers to go the whole hog and order me up a few braided line kit from the Master Cylinder to the calipers

And lastly my brake discs and pads turned up. Had them from ECP with a 30% off. I know there not going to be decent but i just need the car moving !! Also my wiper arms i gave a lick of matt black spray to

Thats all for now

You can revive the odesseys but you need a big old charger. Il dig out the instructions unless you can find it on the web.

Looking good mate
Just a quick one though the Eicher discs will probably be fine on those but dont expect much from the pads, they are borderline dangerous in my opinion. Put a set in the other halfs car the other day and have just replaced them with some different brand after 250 miles - utterly awful pedal feel, bite plus really bad quality control as in that one of the 4 pads wasnt even flat across its face so that less than 50% of it contacted the disc.

Today the final piece of the puzzle arrived.

Goodridge braided brake lines from master cylinder through car to the Willwood bias valve and then to the rear calipers.

Not the best picture

Just need to get all these parts fitted !!

Thanks Andy. They sound like great brakes haha i wasn't expecting much fron them if im honest. At most just to get the car moving and to the MOT, i will then be upgrading them.
