Software to keep an eye on broadband usage
Evening everyone.
When we first moved in our house we rushed about getting internet and as a silly bugger didnt get unlimited download usage so now i've got 80GB each month
I download stuff i.e. programs etc, so is there any software to get to keep a check on how much usage i have used...?
Thanks

80GB isnt bad mines only 40 with talk talk.
Saying that Ive hit over 700GB in the first 3 weeks of this month so far. Waiting for the call from my ISP now!

My router monitors all of that for me, gives me daily upload and download levels and total across the month for both as well...

Just watch if you're using more than one PC on your home network, and accessing one from the other etc - as a few of the pieces of software i've used to monitor network usage do just that - monitor network usage, not internet usage.
So if you copy 1gb to another PC, thats your network usage up 1gb without even going into your internet bandwidth.

Yeah well obviously Im downloading freeware applications and legal stuff!
I just leave it running in the background 24/7 its working out about 30GB per day at the mo. You need to be a member of specialist sites to be able to pull it off though.
Going to build up a dedicated server soon to handle it, running along side a HTPC, need a network storage (NAS) as Im pulling about 1TB a month and I want it backed up as well as not to run out of space.

what isp are you with? - some of them these days will allow you to see what your current monthly usage is. I know that the BT home hubs will show you upload and download levels since its last reboot.
