I hope so. Once all the bit are done i'm going to see if I can get the geometry setup a bit better as it felt a bit squirmy at Oulton park.

Will be loads better once I've saved up and get the coilover conversion sorted later on.

I'm going to look for a better paid job as well as the salary I'm on is causing me problems with keeping the new parts flowing on to the car. No stress or hassle is good but I've got to be able to afford my hobbies AND pay the bills too!

Hell yes... Wages in the UK are a joke tbh. At the current exchange rate MINIMUM wage in Australia is £14 ($21AUD) an hour

Lol. Is the cost of living cheaper as well or does it equal out a bit?

I wouldn't mind if we didn't have the baby as it would only be me and Nic to look after but having to make sure that their is money for the baby as well as all the stupid hobbies I have is just getting daft... It's my own fault! Shouldn't have accepted such a pay cut from my last job!

I might have to just get another job Li ed up and hope that handing in my notice here gives them a kick up the arse to raise my salary.

Anyways... Enough work talk. Not going to get these plates drilled today so they might get done tomorrow morning.

Got a little bit done today.

Struts are on, along with the new shafts. New spark plugs and oil filter on and the oil is in.

Just got to fill the gearbox with oil, fit the brakes back on, refit the upper strut brace and get the manifold fitted.

Took ages to sort the struts but I think they should be reet now.... well, until the coilie conversion is done.

Been out for a blast in the car today to make sure everything is okay. Feels a bit quicker for having a good service. Hoping for a slight improvement on my last figures at the rolling road tomorrow.

Even treated her to some posh juice!

Well... It been a busy few weeks here at Rednek Motorz!

Ultimately though as per the last picture, The car was sorted and is running... just!

It has developed a bit of an electrical fault. For some reason the battery drains in an hour or so so their is a massive short somewhere! To make matters worse, it's intermittent!! Once the car is running it's fine but sometimes it needs a jump to get going.

So thats something to sort out when I have a few hours. Hopefully, this weekend.

After the blast out in the car at the weekend, Sunday came and it was rolling road day!

I helped my mate swap a steering rack on his mk2 Golf GTi the night before and when it was time for him to go I went to move the car from out of his way, Started it up no problem. Took a few bits out of the car and put them out of the way, went to get back in the car to find the door swung half shut and locked!!!!! How the HELL did that happen!? I've later found out, that when I start the car and the battery hasn't had a charge, the central locking turns over and locks the car. So we were sat their with a locked and running car and no way to get in!!

I'm not going to tell how I did it (obviously!) but my recently acquired lock defeating skills were put to the test and we got in. With my mates Golf out of the way, the Saxo was put under the carport and loaded up ready for setting off in the morning.

All to soon I was back in the car with my mate in his Fabia and Dannybluevtr in his Vectra ready for the off. We had a nice little run over to EFI-Parts in Runcorn, about 20 minutes drive. The other guys were all waiting when we arrived. Once we'd got everything sorted I got the car on first... Not my idea but I wasn't going to argue.

Three runs were done and a nice 125.1bhp and 108.5lb/ft of torques.

If i'm honest I was hoping for 130bhp but i'm still happy with that. Chris the operator noticed on his magic box that at high revs the fuelling is a bit off. He suggested getting a decent adjustable fuel pressure regulator to sort it out and said it may give me an extra few horses once sorted out.

I also, in between lending a hand and making brews for my mate and I the night before, managed to get the floor painted where the welding had been done. It's not the best job, but then nothing is on this car!

Heres a pic of the night before:

And some from the rollers:

So, next jobs in order:
Get tracking done,
Sort electrical issue,
Source and fit adjustable fpr,
Trip to DOOM motorsport to pick up a few bits and perv at the beast!
That should do for now

if you are going to bugger around with fprs just get a 3.5 bar one out of a silvertop quiky or vtr or a 4 bar one from any new VAG group motor

They were nice and smooth yeah. Some rollers have grippy material but some don't. The rollers at the Shell research facility I used to go to had smooth rollers too. Don't know why and I know what your getting at... I would have thought that they should all be grippy but they must be like that for a reason.

Are they a 3bar fpr on these Gav? I have the one off my old VTR still as I thought it would come in handy when boost happens. I'll bang that in and see what it feels like if that's a good idea?

Nice little write up, I think you require a decent battery instead of the Alanapone redneck motorz budget race battery

The one I have will be fine... I did the calcs. A bit low on cranking power but it should do fine when It's properly charged and not drained every 5 minutes.

Unfortunately, all my funds are allocated to other things for a while yet and like I say, It should be fine once a full charge is rammed up it.

I wanted to come down last night just to go and see. hehehe

Yeah, looking forward to trying to get down. I'll have to play it by ear at the moment as money is mega tight BUT I REALLY want to have a go! If I don't make this one, i'll be at the next fo sho!

I watched back the trip home video I made last night using Nic's old digital camera. Made me want to get out and have more fun in it! We have a busy weekend planned but I hope to get some diagnostic time on the electrics and hopefully at least pull a fuse out of the problem circuit if possible. I was considering taking out the central locking system and just using pov spec locks etc. Would be nice to be able to open both doors, boot and filler cap with one key!
