It was a great day overall Neil. I still haven't sorted my pics, I'll try and do it tonight.

In the meantime, here's something I had a mooch around at a job on Friday!

Yeah, like I said, the morning started out foggy but cleared pretty quick then it brightened up a bit then we got some rain that then cleared so a bit of a four seasons in one day type event but hey, thats Anglesey for you!

Got the new alternator now after a bit of messing about from an eBay company, they sent me a vtr one even though the listing stated it was a vts alternator! Anyway, new one has arrived and is waiting to be fitted, I also have the manifold undone and just needs unbolting from the centre section ready for some new heat wrap. Once the mani is done whatever is left over will get wrapped round the rest of the exhaust from the front to the back, hopefully this will reduce cabin temps a little bit as well.

I also got a set of clocks that was again advertised as mk1 VTS clocks and I was even sent a pic of them showing 77k miles... Turn up to collect to have a set of vtr clocks with 104k on them thrust into my hands!

For free, I wasn't going to argue and hopefully I should be able to transplant the rev counter into my cluster. If not, then I'll try and source another set of clocks... or just see if I can find a tacho for reasonable money.

Got a busy weekend this weekend so I doubt much will get done to the car but I'm hoping to get things sorted and ready for hitting curborough with Sam again soon. Were planning one more visit this year, then hitting Oulton Park on the 28th November then that should be it for the rest of the year. Time to sort a bit of rust in the back end and finally get the rear beam sorted.

Slow progress is better than no progress!

Great report on Angelsey Alan. I really need to get my backside over to that circuit and put my car through it's paces there, looks really scenic.

And glad you made it home considering the technical hitches

Three Sisters have another track attack on August Bank Holiday, Sunday 30th which I will be at again. I need to break into the 46sec barrier

Nice one, I'll try and make that one too and drag Sam over to pop his 3S cherry!

You'll do it mate, the cars set up well and you just need to keep your foot in for a split second longer and hit the brakes a tiny bit harder to do it.

Finally got the new alternator on. I've also pulled off the battery tray so I can look at the best way to fit my Mocal catch tank and the battery on it. Hopefully this evening I'll be able to fit it all back together and hook up the battery ready for burning in the freshly wrapped manifold soon.Click image for larger version

Yeah, just a bit!

Finally got the wrap done on the manifold and got it fitted. I also mocked up the Mocal and battery on the modified battery tray so that's ready for some new bolts and a lick of paint and I can start to fit that too. All the little jobs take the longest but make a nice difference.

It's only a raceland but it will do until I can afford a better one. The wrap took ages and was proper fiddly and some bits aren't as good as I wanted but it looks a million times better than it did before!

Managed to get the car out to three sisters race circuit at the weekend to see if the new maniwrap had reduced the high oil temps... Narp! Three laps in and I was at 3/4 temps and another brisk lap saw it hitting the top! I'm going to do and oil change and see if the oil has gone off and if that doesn't work then it will be time for an oil cooler.

Still... Had a good session out and even though I was on road tyres with God knows what pressures in I managed to string together some consistent lap times. One day, I'll get there with no issues and break the 50 second barrier but for now 51.1 is my best time so far.

Here are a couple of pics I got sent.

Cheers Danny. Been out and about in the beast again this weekend... Nothing too interesting but its all time behind the wheel. The new alternator and a fresh slimline battery seem to be doing well. The car seems to run a little smoother and fires up everytime which it wasn't doing with the old battery and alternator. Unfortunately the extra voltage hasn't kicked the rev counter back into life so I need to sort that still! Going to see if anyone local is breaking a mk1 vts to nab the clocks and also the front indicators as they keep popping out lol.

Took my brother out for a thrash in it today, he used to have a furio a few years back so to go from the memory of that to thrashing around the lanes in a 140bhp track slaaaaaaaaag was a bit of a surprise hehehe.

Also nipped over to see vtectransplant as he said he had some bits for me that he was going to need shifting... I can't remember everything as it's all sat in the car but WOW!! I must have done something right as he sent me on my way with a shit ton of stuff! If you read this Pete, THANKYOU!! There was loads of little bits that will sort loads of niggles and upcoming issues for me. Cheers dude, Good natter and some fun in the car and too finish it all off, my bro had his kids with him so it was good for all our kids to get some rare playtime together... Great family times.
