Default suspicious clonking......

Right.

My gti seems to have developed a clonking when moving.

I have just replaced my clutch, and flywheel and everything seemed fine at the time.

On the drive home i noticed a small clonk. Thought nothing off it, then parked up and heard a louder clonk. Then shortly after when driving/moving there seems to be a constant clonk.....

so i left it a few days, checked it over today, and couldn't find anything loose, or obvious.

So took it for a drive, and all seemed good, but after 10 mins it came back.

It only seems to be when slowing down, or pulling away, both in gear & out of gear. again its a constant noise.

Any help would be great! And sorry if its a shocking description

Cheers

maybe exhaust? guess you took the mount off when you changed clutch flywheel etc. just a thought but maybe the exhaust mount isnt mounted correct and exhaust pipe has some movement?

Could be C.V boot? Try pulling off at full lock and see if its more noticeable?

^^try that, also jack each corner up individually, spin each wheel and see if you can hear/see any play in any of the suspension/steering components.

Hope you get it sorted!

Thanks for all the above.

I tried jacking and spinning. Can't hear anything noticeable.

Also tried full lock when parking, and it seems to do it then also, but still normal slow driving.

Also, doesn't sound like a exhaust.

Nothing sorted yet. Now started a new job so not so sure on time etc....

Basically i touched the nut & bolt on the wishbone to chassis and it rattled.

The one with the bush rather than the whole mount.

Simple enough!
