Default slow vtr engine

having compared with someone else's, similar milage and models with no power mods, (only filter and exhaust system), with the same number of people in th car, i feel as though mine isnt pulling away at 3000rpm as fast. i have serviced it 2000 miles back, engine was warm, road was the same, wasnt windy, what could be causing this?

im pretty sure the exhaust difference (4-1 vs 4-2-1) cant make this difference.

could a filter sitting next to (touching) the rocker cover making the whole unit hot cause this?

All vtr's are slow. But if you have heat soak it wont help.

do you think it's worth heat shielding the mani or is the heat shield around the alternator a suitable wrap for the filter?

out of curiosity, should i inc changing the gearbox oil as part of a service?
