Default Speaker fitting problem.

Hi im in the middle of fitting some new speakers, I bought the JBL GTO527 after recommendation. Ive been struggling to fit them from the off to be honest, and ive just managed to get a bit of sound out of them, but it is really really quiet compared to the standard one the other side which isnt yet fitted. I also bought some adapters which apparently fit straight on making it no fuss at all but I cant see anywhere it can go.
Ive figured that the green wire is positive and the pink is negative and this is just how its connected at the moment just until im sure its right. They also crackle when I turn them up loud
If I cant sort it im going to have to pay someone to get it done.

Could anyone give me some pointers on how to sort it?
Cheers

Is it a clean connection?

Could be worth fitting some spade terminals, especially if they may come out at some point in the future.

I havent got a clue on what to do, I thought it would just be a case of taking the wires out of the old one and putting them on the new ones...job done, but obviously not
Heres the adapter if thats any help

You dont mention what headunit or amp you are using?

Your new speakers have a 45w RMS rating. The standard speakers are something nearer to 14wrms (if my memory serves me correctly)

The standard headunit will be lucky if its pushing that and an aftermarket are usually rated at around 50w MAX per channel (that works out around 35w RMS which ill be very surprised if an after market internal amp can push)

What you may have the net effect of here is that the headunit cant drive the speakers properly due to the increased power requirements of the speaker so you may give the appearance that the standard speaker is louder.

I would check that you indeed have the polarity correct. Check at the head unit end and even follow this up at the door check where the speaker plugs are. On my first saxo the wires were swapped as they entered the passenger door but not on the drivers door

Could be interference with soldered wires touching metal in the door maybe ?

But as stated by Scott, if you are using the citroen headunit that could be the problem.

Right. The pic below, if you can see the bit that I coloured in green, thats where you need to connect the red/pink wire. The green one is in the right place.

The connector you bought had connectors on each end so you didnt have to snip any wires. I'll try to explain in the pic below - the red arrow shows where the block connects and the bits that are blue are the spade connectors that go onto the speaker, where you attached the wires.

Sorry for my shit arrows

I edited the pics and I cant even see the arrows now. Not sure if anyone else can

I tried that with the connector, the black connector block was way too big for the yellow adapter, strange

Did you order the right one for the right year car?

Well if you make sure you move that pinky reddy wire like in the first pic they should work fine. But you need to make sure they're fastened on properly.

Cut off the blocks and use spade connectors, miles easier
