Action Photography
I see a lot of people shooting pictures from trackdays etc.
I try to take the photos for the football team I play for every other week and often my photos are coming out out of focus.
I am using a quick shutter speed.
Any advice you can give me to help improve the quality of these shots.
I am using a Canon 400d with 70 - 300mm lense.

No I'm not. I've been using single shot but having looked at what ai servo is I can see that it should improve things.
I have also gained knowledge in finding out the focal length of my camera and lense. I have been advised that I should always be shooting with a shutter speed higher than the focal length.

Yer changing to AI Servo will improve your hit rate alot more.
There is a sports section on Talkphotography, it has a number of threads about photographing football might be worth alook.

Just adding my two cents. I’ve never used a 70-300mm lens but I have used the Canon 55-250mm and compared to other canon lenses the motor is incredibly slow at focusing, and a lot of my shots ended up being out of focus. That might be contributing to your issue?
