that will always happen --no matter what they tell you --poly carb always look tatty a after a while+ i have never seen a car fitted with them that does not have water leaks .
LEXAN is what is used for aircraft and its bugger to keep them scratch free .all mud and grit must be hosed off first --don,t use a rag or you will scratch the surface ,ideally mever touch them .
have you actually worked out how much weight it saves?
this is very much my own opinion ,
but i did it once with a real mini and vowed never again .
I will suffer the extra weight of glass and just brake later into the corner or make a bit more power.
If you must do it then use expensive windscreen bonding on them as well as the rivets ,that will stop the leaks.
technically you could just use windscreen bonding ,prviding you pretreat the frames and poly carb with a glass primer ,but you need to be neat with the stuff or it wil look crap .
that why bonded windscreens have the black edge --so you cannot see the wiggly line of adhesive.
the other alternative is a butyl tape, then it will look right (used for sticking pond liners together ) + a couple of rivets bolts

hmm, food for thought tbh
i knew they didnt last long, but thought a full set up would shed a bit more weight then that actually... but there again the windows in a sax cant weigh that much to start..
may just keep what ive got for now, as the side windows are tinted, light smoke on front and med smoke on quarters, so if in a smash im safe from the glass there anyhow
might just get a polycarb for the boot when i get a firbeglass item, the car has plenty power...
only thing really leading me to polycarbs was removal of the EW system... and still being able to open the windows(sliders)but thought i may aswell go for full kit...
as i want to totally gut the door insides and pvc over whats left, same as yours mark....
any ideas?..
