Yes most games are playable, but only on the 60gb version. The 40gb version won't play the ps2 games.

i can play most of my ps2 games on my ps3 many of mine are about 2 to 3 years old also my newer ps2 games play to.

I don't think there is a way matey. I think they removed the ps2 compatibility chip, to keeps the cost down for the 40gb model. So dunno if it is possible.

on the 40 gig.. its NOT back compatible.. at all.. hence why its so cheap.. and around 85% of ps2 games will work on the ps3
and its not a case of getting it ""chipped"" either
