IT Geeks I need help
Wireless networks......talk to me
Currently have PC plug into moden via USB and then into phone socket on Orange broadband.
Bought an Iphone and the WiFi rocks on it as I have been using it all day around town and using works WiFi connection and its awesome.
What do I need to make my PC wireless so my iphone can connect to my current broadband at home?
Cheers

As youre with orange mate, ring them up say you wanna upgrade to wireless home package i think its called, theyll update youre connection, ive gone from 2.2 to 5.4~7.2mbps (depending on time of day etc) and theyll send you a wireless router, it isnt free, you sort of hire it from them, but its inlcuded in the £17.99 a month you pay and that'll give you wifi around your home, and you can link up 3 devices. Not sure how actually pairing it with an iPhone will work, it should jus pick up the wirelss connection, but you coul ring them to see

You can buy your own Router on the other hand, one like this; http://www.dsl-warehouse.co.uk/produ...r=DG834G-WG111
Then the cable from your phone socket into the back of the router, and you then have two ways to connect to your current PC. You can plug in a usb dongle and the computer will run of the wireless, or buy a wireless card to plug into the back.
Your Iphones wifi will run of the wireless router. Pretty easy to setup.

He wouldn't need a wireless card for his PC iirc, because the router has to be pluged into his PC, so theres no way of making the actual PC wireless, but making it send out wirless so laptops, phones etc can connect to it,
And in that case just buy a wireless router!

well its a legal grey area, there no specific law against it but some could argue that ur stealing their browsing bandwidth, even tho ull use like 5% and most people wont even notice..
technically it could be stealing as u dont have permission to use it, but ur not physically taking anything away from them and it doesnt affect the person paying in most cases...
cracking the network tho is completely illegal, but open networks shout 'hardcore porn torrents GO!' hehe
