Excellent portrait and for a first go, one to be very proud of. What camera/lens did you use?

very nice first attempt, i have made a few changes i hope you dont mind. i increased the levels very slightly as by making it a little darker the eyes appear sharper, also i copied the layer and blurred it and then cut your daughter out to hide the lines in the backdrop (basically digitally reduced the depth of field)
other than that its a really nice shot

That's fantastic, thanks mate. That was straight out of the camera with a small crop. I will have a tinker with it later on. Any help is greatly appreciated
Thanks again
