Default CPU / computer speed problem ?

Ok well I buyed a toshiba satellite c660/c660d

( what it says on sticker by keyboard)

It came with only 2 gb of ram

My cousin uses it for playing 2 games (world of war craft ) which it played fine and (league of legends) which runs like poo lol and I use it for djing

He now doesn't play world of Warcraft but still plays league of legends

Only program's installed are his league of legends game and my djing software - Traktor pro 2 c cleaner and a defrag program

For Xmas my cousin upgrade my laptop for me so it now has 6 gb and it hasn't effected the performance at all ...
I have the CPU and ram usage gadget on my desktop and the ram never goes above 40% now with the 6gb in but the CPU constantly above 40% wen it's just sat there and nothing is running

Does any one have any ideas at all what's wrong with it?

I've never heard of League of Legends but had a quick look at the recommended specs and you seem fine on CPU and RAM but it recommends a graphics card. Laptop graphic cards are integrated on to the motherboard (they share the machines resources) and therefore not upgradable (for most laptops) All you can do is reduce the game play quality (FPS etc) and put up with poor quality graphics. I would also recommend uninstalling C-Cleaner, your defrag program (Windows is more than capable) and your CPU/RAM monitor (most are very inaccurate) as these programs just sit in the background sapping power.
Unfortunately everyday laptops just aren't cut out for gaming (you may wonder why WOW runs this is because it is mainly rely s on the CPU not GPU.

Jokes.... In all seriousness, do you see 6GB of ram available, system info..... and does it have 64 bit edition of windows ? If not your cousins a bell .

What processor does it have. I'd search but i'm eating, also check background services in task manager, i.e auto start programs and stuff like that.

You might think you have nothing on there but you could have an auto-run service thats using your CPU. Perhaps a malware program or something.

I don't no how I would have extra things running in the back ground because I have only installed the program's I listed earlier

Your processor along with your limited integrated graphics are an issue. A serious one if your looking to do any level of gaming as you are discovering. Adding any kind of ram is merely papering over the cracks.

You can look at stopping what's running in the back ground at start up but for £350 odd you'll pick up something in special that will easily be vastly better than what you have

Typing msconfig in the search area in start menu will bring up a panel where you can see and disable startup items. You shouldn't have many things loading if its a fresh pc. But it's worth a check, if your Cpu isn't great, something daft could be juicing the processing power.

Only other way without spending money is a light overclock. But again, it depends on the CPU.

edit... sorry overlooked the fact it's an AMD based system. Not quick either by today's standards. 6GB in a laptop with such CPU is kinda pointless really unless your doing lots of small tasks At once.

Your PC simply isn't up to it.

You'll be lucky if you can play Minecraft on that!

I play Minecraft on a 1.0GHz dual core AMD and get 40fps ;D

Also, there's nothing wrong with AMD, imo they run slightly better than Intel.

The real winners are ARM based computers, pity there aren't more of them going about.

My cousin was told by posting on there forum that it should be fine to run if I upgrade the ram but it hasn't solved the problem

Sorry to piss on your firework, your CPU is not the problem. Please re-read my last post.

If you really want to attempt to replace your CPU, research your current CPU (AMD e-300 I saw this in a post) find out what socket it is (FT1 BGA, after some quick research) next find a more powerful CPU (I could only find other dual core CPUs so not really worth the effort)

Once you've got your more powerful CPU, have a search on YouTube for dismantling your laptop model.

Good Luck.

I wasnt suggesting an AMD is crap by any means you can get some blinding chips from AMD. I meant the fact its a low speed AMD, by todays standard, its just not good enough.

You need to find the socket your CPU uses to upgrade to the correct CPU. Personally i wouldnt get a laptop for this exact reason. There's so much faffing involved with many of them. You might be lucky and find a CPU that fits the board that will cut it.

If it was a desktop, it would be, CPU out CPU in, or probably just buy a new board, CPU and RAM combo and job done.

To put things in perspective a standard Intel i3 processoer is considerably more powerful than your AMD. Given the fact that i3's are the lower end Intel CPU and can be had for very little these days.
