As long as there is sufficient thread in both the mocal fitting and the block it shouldn't matter. I think the key factor is to not over tighten the fittings, a little tighter than you'd put a filter on really. They aren't hub nuts, don't go wild with a breaker bar.
I might weld it all on

I've just changed to this:

Which includes nice threaded holes for oil pressure sensors etc too

You will, of course, still need the threaded bit to screw the mushroom into.
I agree next time i have mine in bits it will be getting changed to a torques style one rather than the monkey metal mocal unit

Maybe its because they sit on the shelf for years and never get used?

They have to order them from france and they have to pay for the order and delivery.

they have to order them from france because they dont keep anything in stock any more as they then at extra charge to the customer can get them over night or they say they can but every part you order happens to be on "back order" after you have already paid for it

2 months i waited for some piston oil jets for a jp4 they cant tell me they halted the car assembly line for that length of time?

I just posted on your build thread (doh).

I'll take one! I'm going to be facing the same issue, I suspect.
