LOL at the watermark debate.
I must admit I do see alot of camera phone pics on here watermarked and question why.
Like peoples holiday snaps etc... If anyone nicks your photo and prints it anywhere its simple you invoice them for it.
You also never post Hi res shots online, therefore it makes it very hard to use in any decent print media, and if someone says its their work you have a Hires version to prove other wise.
The only time i feel you need a watermark mostly is on pics you are selling, eg when my site was live people can right click save as if they want a photo without paying (I had right click blocked but its an example) If its watermarked and they do this they nick the photo but advertise for you and only get shitty low res anyway lol

I think water marking is a good idea ...
I've never seen an AdSayer photo which isn't water marked.

An obv joke btw before sum1 has a go... And each to their own with watermarks

to be honest man it's not even that. Most of the time I'm not arsed where they go, so long as they know who shot them then that's cool. On the other hand if there is moniez to be made then I'll put a humongous WM on it. If I've already been paid for them then I won't bother with the watermark at all

yer i know the logic, i might start to pu my name at the bottom nice and small, just so its known who shot it.

exactly! if it's just for recognition... word of mouth is a powerful thing. If someone wants to nick the photo then they'll always find a way, best policy is not post them on the internet... or do a disgustingly big watermark

Gonna say.. watermarking a photo isn't necessarily protecting it from theft, sure.. it helps.
Most watermarks are just a solid colour. I could remove most watermarks in about 10 minutes, and you'd never know one was even there.
One with drop shadow is a little harder though.. but still easily possible

best thing you can do is put your name at the bottom, if someone is going to steal it, they will steal it and crop your name of, but if it was there originally then you have a leg to stand on.
