In an earlyer post it says that the m10 threaded hole is an oil return for the mk2 filter. If so then
for example if you was going to turbo charge the vtr could this threaded hole be used as the return from the turbo or is the pressure too high just wondering im welding my sump tomorrow so

hmm, when tapping the 'm10' hole. Does it require tapping it with a m9 first? then a m10 second?
As it wont start tapping with the m10. N the set i just have bought, doesnt have a m9 .

Hmm I dont remember using a m9 on it at all mate, but if you cant do with m10 you'll have to source a m9 tap

took 3 people, about 2 hours. But got there in the end lmao.
basically it was because theres 3 tapping sets.
1.to start
2.to go again
3.to finish
And i bought the middle set. So had to damage the hole in block for the tapping tool to 'grip' it.
Was a blag, and some nuts have to be put on the bolts before pushing mani to block.

I'd use a bit of paste to help it seal 100%

fitted mine today. few problems though
1. bottom left mani stud now won't go back in cos the mani itself is in the way. think it'll matter?
2. can't get the top lambda sensor out of the old mani, so just stuck a bolt in the top hole in the new one
3. the attachment on the new mani where it bolts to the gearbox doesn't meet the gearbox so i've had to leave the bolt out
also i've pasted and clamped the above joint. would rather it was welded though. is that possible?
also can i run the car without lambda sensors? just put bolts in both the holes. or should i source a new top sensor and connect them up
cheers, chris

I would get that welded in all honesty - won't cost much and will be worth it in the long run. Don't worry about the gearbox bracket - if it rattles, just cut it off. Try shortening the stud that fouls the manifold, or use a bolt instead - m8 thread from memory?
Running without the first (green) lambda will cause fueling issues. Not having the second (blue) lambda is fine - all it does is flag up a fault with the CAT and put the EML on.

nice one cheers mate. defo fancy getting it welded for a solid, tight seal. plus the clamp threads keep catching on the ground
might try and stick a long bolt through the gearbox bracket into the gearbox for a bit of extra support. depends if it lines up though. will have another look today
will also try a bolt in that bottom left hole
my eml has come on. think what i'll have to do is buy a new green lambda, make a sleeve for the blue one and connect everything back up
thanks again for the reply
cheers, chris

1. mine wouldn't fit either, not rattled once yet.
2. to get around this, i took all the studs out, then put the 2 on the left back in, and the 2 on the right. Put bolts on before pushing to block.
3. Have ran my car without lamba sensors for months. It's fine!

cool yeah should be fine without the gearbox bolt i reckon, especially once i've had that joint welded up
good plan re the mani studs. can't really be arsed now as it seems fine with 7 out of 8 fitted, but i suppose i best do it for peace of mind
gonna get two m18 bolts to go in the lambda holes for now. new sensors are well expensive! looks tidier without. plus dodgy fuelling might mean more pops lol
currently got the blue lambda in the bottom hole, not connected. and my supersprint midsection lambda bolt in the top hole. so got a big hole in my midsection. sounds ridiculous! like a bloody tank on tickover. had to drive to the cinema with it like that last night aswell. got quite a few looks lol
