Wendler's 5/3/1
Starting it next week.
Spent this week finding my starting weights after about 4 months out of the gym. Haven't touched a barbell in about a year.
5,8" 75kg.
Bench 3x 95kg
OHP 3x 60kg
Squat 6x 120kg
Deadlift 5x 130kg
Will update with pics and progress if people are interested.

I'd suggest listening to Mr Wendal by Arrested Development on repeat while working out to this

What is it? That seems pretty good for not being in gym a long time.

I'll be doing the bodyweight assistance stuff with it.
Those squats are a little lower than parallel but with a 'bounce'. It's just what's comfortable for me. Grip went on Deadlifts before anything else so I've got chalk now and belt is arriving soon.

Grip went? Chalk? Straps?
The fuck is this, girls day out?
Get some forearm exercises done before you up the weight to something you can't hold.
No grip = no lift
I used to use straps when i was a nipper but meh

I have quite good grip strength used to lift no straps and developed better arm/grip strength in the process but I find I hit a level where lack of straps dictated how much I could lift. Nothing worse than slowly feeling your grip go half way thru a heavy set.
I incorporate forearm/grip exercises in my workout, definitely not a weak area but would definitely hold me back from my heavy sets.
I can understand this hatred for 'bitch mitts' (gloves) as you just man up and let your hands get destroyed... but straps/chalk are a totally different thing imo.

If you can't grip, you can't lift. Aided lifting, isn't lifting. It's just moving with some weights attached to you.

You obviously don't understand the concepts of bodybuilding then.

Well now you should understand the point of using straps then. It might look ridiculous to you but that wasn't the topic, just like powerlifting seems pointless to me.
And how was Matt biting? He was simply arguing the point, your logic has been proven wrong so your response is to say he's biting ?

did you mean irate?!
never considered the deadlift a lower back movement, i can kinda see what are you are saying, if keeping legs straight then in a way its the same kind of movement as a good morning, but yeah still never considered it a lower back exercise.
