Progress thread section
I think enough people are doing them so why not make a section for it? Also a progress thread button (link) on the users profile, which displays when they post.

For once i agree with what Ryan says above.
Also people tend to use their 'signature' to advertise they're progress thread, just a simple link. A good example is above.
