Well I have always sworn by AVG Free.
In it's new form however it is not as good as it used to be. The self update system is unreliable so as long as you remember to keep it updated it is perfect.
Ad Aware is good but that is more of a Anti-Spyware program. I use both though.
I use these two and never have problems.
Here are the links for both:
AVG Free Download
Ad Aware Free
Hope this helps you

Same, apparently AVG slows down your computer a lot more than avast, but that's just what I've heard.

I've used AVG the past 3 years and have had a clean system throughout. I agree with the new v9 workings its not as good, but it has yet to fail me.

Fixed that for you. You do realise McAfee messed up so many computers with here latest updates and are now being sued because of it lol.
I personally use Avira its better than AVG and Avast but not as good as Kaspersky which is top dog at the moment!

I use Microsoft Security Essentials on my "Legally Licenced" installs of Windows, and use Symantec Corporate Antivirus on Not so Legal Copies, or Server OS Installs.

I like to use Norton Internet Security 2010, its come a long way form what it used to be! I also use Malware Bytes Anti Malware as a spyware/adware remover. All i can say to all the people using AVG is there is a reason its free! Just my opinion.
