Yeah. I know what you mean. I wouldn't do it with a Saxo... Not against some of the cars other guys are running! A cheap ass Porsche or something would be good.

I bet the little jap cars like the little glanza is it? I bet they get some work done and rip it up! You'd have to figure out too, what you'd lose on the strip could you make it up on the agility course?

Managed to muster the energy to get into the garage after tea today.

Got the car off the axle stands and sat on my set of VTS rims with my TD1.2's on.

Removed the centre caps off the TD's so I could tension the driveshaft stake nuts. Got them both nice and tight then lifted the drivers side to check if it removed the wobble in the wheel bearing.... NOPE!

So I need to either strip that strut and swap everything into the old strut I took off OR get a bearing fitted!

Just my luck!

Ah well, It's a low priority job at the moment.

Next on the list is to get the arse end in the air and strip the beam off. THEN, I need to bleed the brakes of fluid and swap my rear braided sections in.

THEN:

Get the rear beam off the VTR and swap that onto the VTS, reconnect the brakes and replace the pads and discs.

THEN:

Jack up the front of both cars remove the callipers off both.

Swap the 266's off the VTR onto the VTS and fit the 283's onto the VTR!

My idea is that; The TD's will stay on the VTR as I like the White against the rest of the blue and black.

PLUS,

The black VTR rims will give me a cheaper tyre option should I ever get the opportunity to fit some sticky rubber!

So the VTS will have my 266's with Mintex 1144 pads and Maxtorq disks PLUS a set of yellow stuffs as spares. I've used this setup at Anglesey last time and I know what they are capable of. Once I've used the pads I MAY look at getting some for the 283's and swapping them over but for now I want to stick with this plan as I feel more confident in them compared to the 283's with standard pads that don't have too much meat left on them.

Once the brakes and beams are swapped I need to get the DOT5.1 fluid bled in. Sort the wheel bearing. Collect and fit the seat frame and fit the seat. MAYBE... find a carpet to throw in for the MOT... OH, and paint the welding work.

NOW... If I can try and get the beam on the VTS ready tomorrow then I should be able to get the VTR beam off and the VTS beam onto the VTR on Thursday night. This then would mean that Saturday I could enlist a helper (my mate Jon no doubt) to help me do the brakes.

Oh, and I need a drivers side arch liner as the one I got from Rory was the wrong side lol.

Not much to do then!

Mate I know your smoothing that welding off before your painting it. But please tell me that bloke isn't a pro welder and didn't charge you much to do it.

Lol, nah, I provided him some brews and he did it. To be fair, he's not welded for ages, his welder was playing up AND it is solid... I clouted it with a rubber mallet to make sure it wasn't going anywhere.

I could have paid a lad £40-£50 to do it but to be fair, his welding wasn't much better than Jon's! lol.

Lol. Nah reverting to a bolt in set up now. I thought the same after seeing the welds lol. He's a good lad and all but he doesn't weld much.

I'm going to have a bit of an insurance session this weekend if I can with the missus. Her policy is up in Feb so we could have a look around at some multi-car type policies... Failing that, I register my garage as a proper business and get fleet insurance lol

Does anyone know... Can I just leave the rear BAS sensors unplugged?

The beam I want to fit hasn't got the ABS sensor holes I don't think!

If not, Looks like that beam will stay on for the time being (until I rip the BAS out)

in fact... It would save some hassle and the beam has no play in it... I just wanted the polybushes that the other one has on really. guess I could get a set, drop the beam down, fit the new ones and refit it.

don't know what to do....

Any one offer some enlightenment?

Got a bit done yesterday.

Decided to keep the rear beam on just to save the hassle of removing the ABS and having 2 cars jacked up at the same time! I also decided that I'm going to run the TD's for Anglesey due to them having better tyres on. Also it means I can fit the 283's on rather than having to remove yet another item from the VTR! SO;

I replaced the discs and pads on the rear and fitted the Billies. Dropped the back end down and then got the callipers fitted back on to the front so I could get the car out of the garage while we did some work on my mates Golf.

Today, I'm hoping to get the lower strut brace and the TD's off the rear of the VTR. Then if time allows, I'll get the 283's fitted along with the lower strut brace on the front, put some gear oil in then I need to go around everything and check it's all tight. Once that's done, the drivers side strut needs pulling back off and the lower part swapping for one that has a decent bearing in.

By that time, I'm almost done... Just need to sort a seat mount still due to the one I got being for the passenger side

Ah well....

Other thing is... The insurance and tax are deffo NOT going to happen this side of Christmas! SO, I've been in touch with a self drive transporter hire company and I'll do that to get to Anglesey! at least if it blows up, i won't have to wait for the AA!

Pictures will be added later on I think

Her you go then mate:

Firstly, Got the welding smoothed off a bit, primered and painted... I forgot to get pics while I did it all but here's the finished item although the ECU covers most of it:

I'll try and remember to take it off and get a better picture this week.

I finally got the Billies on.

I'd decided to keep the beam that is on it due to the ABS sensors and the fact that I don't have enough time to pull two beams apart and swap them over.

I then fitted the new rear discs and pads. I gave everything a clean up and a coat of copper grease to prevent any seizing and squeaking. Unfortunately, it's too late for the bleed nipples. Their seized solid so it looks like i'll be running standard fluid at the track day!

My mate Jon was round helping me and he wanted some stuff doing on his MK2 Golf GTi so I decided we'd put the wheels on at this point and move the car out of the way. When we got it out we realised that the back end was a BIT high!

SO... Lowering needs doing now as well!

I've also decided that the TD's will be used on the track day as they have better tyres on... This also means I can fit the 283's I have got rather than taking the 266's off the VTR to fit to the VTS... Just trying to save time now and get it finished!

I'm also STILL in need of a subframe as the one I got was for the passenger side

I've been out this evening to give all the torsion bars a soak in WD-40 and after tea I tried to loosen them off a bit... No such luck! Everything looks like it's seized solid!!!

I've asked Boony from our region if he could come and have a go... I hope he's more optimistic than I am! I'd hate to waste his time AND have to swap the beams over!

Fingers crossed that this week see's an improvement in my luck!

A LOT of WD-40 and some heat from my blowtorch. I can't even get the bolts out let alone get to the torsion bars to try and shift them. I can just see me spending all next week trying to remove beams from 2 cars whilst being on call and trying to keep everything out of sight from the local yoof!

Going to see if Boony can do owt with this week mate. If not, I'll have to swap the beams over for the track day then I'll get this on off the car and give it a going at in the garage. Just my luck that it won't budge though. Had loads go wrong this month and it's getting to me now. I just want it to work! lol.

Cheers for the offer though mate.
