Spam issues on Exchange e-mail system
Hey chaps,
Got a huge problem with email spam at work and i need to look into a spam filter software which will block spam comming in for all users on the exchange server.
Tried Spamfighter but it wont install due to connection problems on a port or another.
Its on an RM network so probably nothing is possible hhaa

Could be any reason, a bot picked up the e-mail address and worked out it was active..
I'm not aware of anything but I'm guessing there is something, the one I have collects the e-mails from a webserver which as spam assasin and spam filter enabled on it, Prob won't help your situation though..

BUMP......... Trialed a piece of software called Spam Reader which doesnt STOP spam but it deletes it at station level as soon as it comes in and puts it into a spam folder.
Is there any software that will block this at server level?

We have GFI mail essentials installed on one of our servers its very effective. Filters subject titles, DNS lookup and also scans the entire message. I have no idea of the cost but may well be worth looking into and discussing with management

Thanks mate, just installed it but got to wait untill after school untill i can reboot the exchange server to finnish the install. Does it block the spam before it reaches clients inboxes?
SpamReader which we were going to buy only deletes it at station level and puts it into a 'spam folder'

You can choose different levels, some of ours the naughty ones are deleted straight away, other suspect ones are forwarded to a support mail account which is we go through on a daily basis as some (5-10%) of these are legit emails
There is apparently a very good DNS lookup that is meant to be very good, its like 4 combinded. Il try and dig it out, but don't use it as our Bayesian filtering is the one that gets most of them. Its all about optimising it, if you set up it too well you can end up with a big presubmission queue
