RAID back ups
Right I asked ages ago on the drive front and have been trying to hold off due to the fact that the drive prices went skyward. They're still not great but this summer is already booking up and my drives are getting maxed etc...
So time to bite the bullet I think. Im guessing something like the following would be suitable?
http://www.ebuyer.com/179317-startec...d-usb-s354ufer
Then hook it up to 2/3 of these for the time being? (add a 4th when the price drops a touch
) http://www.ebuyer.com/264274-wd-2tb-...cache-wd20earx
Would there be cheaper drive cases out there that would be suitable? Baring in mind the data im throwing at it, + heat etc...
Obviously this is to run on my mac etc..

The WD 2tb disks are not expensive at all there a bargin!
2tb WD and 64mb cache its a steal tbh..
The case is fine however you could build your own for much less with RAID setup.
You could buy a NAS storage case, how ever data transfer speeds won't be a quick and it sounds like you have alot of data to transfer.
Im not fully clued up on Macs Ryan they do not have esata ports? So you would be using firewire over usb 800mbps vs 480mbps iirc. Not many other raid setup storage have firewire etc so its probably a good buy for yourself.

Alex as cheap as possible but still giving me decent security.
Looked at the buffalo drive last night, I don't want 2 drives of 3tb, ideally 3/4drives for multiple back ups.
Drives of 2tb should give me back ups for my current image library and a couple of years future proofing.
Obviously I'm not fussed about it being wireless etc... I'd rather it be hard wired into my mac if the transfer speeds are quicker.

If you can afford it buffalo terastor's are the way forward as they are reliable, if not what about a hp micro server for around £120 and then adding some drives in that and then raiding it?

I echo this, bro has just hooked one up to his mac using firewire.

Stick 4 2TB drives in it, will be more than enough for a long, long time.
